Founded in the Midwest in 1995, Elevator Technicians built a strong reputation for quality service and customer satisfaction before expanding west to Colorado in 2015.
Joe Zopf, one of our founding partners, spent over 20 years as a field adjuster with Suburban Elevator Company in Chicago. After relocating with his family to Colorado, Joe established Elevator Technicians, LLC with the goal of bringing the same service-driven approach to the Rocky Mountain region. Since then, Joe has been joined in ownership by partners Ted Murzyn, Zach Galante, and Chris Hayward.
We’ve taken the same values and practices that made us successful in the Midwest and implemented them across Colorado. Today, Elevator Technicians proudly serves the Denver metro area—from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins—as well as our growing Mountain Portfolio, which includes Grand, Eagle, Summit, Garfield, and Pitkin counties.
With a total team of 26 skilled union field employees and 5 dedicated office and sales staff, we’re proud to bring expertise and efficiency to every project. Our team includes 2 dedicated mountain modernization crews, 3 mountain service mechanics, 6 front range modernization crews, 6 front range service mechanics, and a full-time repair crew. This structure allows us to respond quickly, handle multiple projects across Colorado, and deliver consistent, high-quality results in both residential and commercial settings.

All of our field employees are proud members of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) and North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU), reflecting our strong commitment to industry standards. Three of our four business partners are licensed, card-carrying mechanics, highlighting the depth of expertise at the core of our company.
Qualifications
Each field technician has completed—or is actively completing—a rigorous four-year apprenticeship program, complemented by key industry certifications such as OSHA and SAIA. This ensures our team is highly skilled and up-to-date with the latest safety and technical standards.
With dedicated managers overseeing Sales, Service, Modernization, and Repair, we’re fully equipped to support your elevator equipment throughout its entire lifecycle and provide seamless upgrades when needed.
Our phones are staffed around the clock, 24/7, 365 days a year. After-hours and weekend calls are personally dispatched by our ownership team, guaranteeing prompt, knowledgeable responses every time.
Recently, we’ve partnered with a specialized industry software platform created by elevator professionals. This system meticulously logs all maintenance visits, service calls, and repairs, automatically alerting supervisors for any shutdowns. Elevators experiencing repeated issues within a short timeframe are flagged immediately, and ownership is notified to ensure swift resolution.
