1570 Grant - Denver
Project Type
Modernization
Date
February 2021
This project took place at 1570 Grant Street, a state government office building in downtown Denver. The goal was to modernize the existing elevator systems to improve safety, performance, and code compliance.
Our team completed a full modernization, which included installing Motion 4000 controllers, Torin gearless machines, and Hollister Whitney governors. Additional upgrades included new door operators and hoistway locking equipment, updated fixtures in both the hallways and elevator cars, new cab interiors, replacement elevator doors throughout, new roller guides, and all-new wiring from the machine room.
One of the major challenges involved replacing the elevator machines without using a crane—something most competitors had proposed. A crane would have required costly city permits and road closures. Instead, our crew developed a creative, efficient plan to move the new machines up and the old ones down through the building’s stairwell—without any structural modifications and without damaging the equipment.
Both elevators were completed and turned over to the client on time and in a cost-effective manner, minimizing disruption while delivering a fully modernized, code-compliant system.
